On March 8, 2019, Deputies responded to 201 McArthur Avenue in reference to a suspicious vehicle in the garage that did not belong. Deputies were advised from the complainant that her landlord parked a black, Chevy Suburban in their shared garage. The complainant advised the vehicle does not belong and the complainant believed it to be stolen. Deputy Davis recalled taking a motor vehicle theft report from 221 McArthur Avenue and a burglary in the same driveway where a black Taurus 9MM pistol was stolen. The vehicle that was stolen matched the description of the vehicle in the garage. Deputies were granted permission by the tenants to enter the house where they located the subject, Shelley, asleep. She was secured and removed from the residence. Deputies were led into the garage where they confirmed the license plate matched the plate from the same type of vehicle stolen earlier in the day. Deputy Davis later recovered the stolen firearm at the boyfriend of Shelley’s residence.
Due to Deputy Davis’s attention to detail and proactive approach that he takes on a daily basis. The victim was able to get their vehicle and weapon back and also allowed the citizens of Lehigh Acres to be safer with this firearm removed from the streets.
Because of Deputy Davis dedication, hard work, and professionalism, and his devotion to duty and service to the public, the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce is very proud to recognize Deputy Davis as Lee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Month.
