The October 2017 Lehigh Acres Chamber Of Commerce Deputy of the month nomination is, Deputy Surial Rosario for his actions during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Deputy Rosario went above and beyond to help the citizens he serves during his post storm deployment. At one point, he used a commandeered canoe with only a board and broom as paddles to gain access to a home surrounded by flood waters. He was then able to provide the homeowner with much needed water and other supplies. Later, Deputy Rosario and his fellow East District Deputies rebuilt a bridge washed away by moving water to allow access to the homeowners property. Throughout the storm, Deputy Rosario displayed a positive attitude and an eagerness to help the citizens of the greater Lehigh Acres community. His story gained media attention and Deputy Rosario humbly accepted an interview invitation from WINK news. During the news story Deputy Rosario was reunited with the family who praised is heroism. Deputy Rosario brought positive acclaim to the Sheriff’s office and we are honored to serve alongside him.
